Induction Heating Frequency Selection
Why we need to consider the induction heating machine output frequency when we adopt induction heating method to heat the workpiece?
What is the relation between the workpiece size, application with the frequency?
The induction heating power supply is an industrial application that heats the workpiece by induction heating. The higher the frequency of the current passed in the output coil, the less the penetration depth of the induced current generated on the surface of the heated body. The skin effect is more obvious. According to the calculation of the penetration depth of the induced current and the actual application, we give the following reference frequency selection:
Surface Heating (such as hardening)
Hardening depth 0.8–1.2mm, the induction heater frequency should be at the range of 200–400KHZ
Hardening depth 1–2mm, the induction heating machine frequency should be at the range of 60–200KHZ
Hardening depth 2–4mm, the heating machine frequency should be at the range of 15–30KHZ
As one of the professional induction hardening machine manufacturers in China, JKZ strongly recommends you to select the induction heating frequency range in accordance with the needs of your workpieces.
Whole Piece Heating (such as induction forging application)
Workpiece diameter 20–30mm, the induction heater frequency should at the range of 15–30KHZ
Workpiece diameter 30–50mm, the induction heater frequency should at the range of 6–15KHZ
Workpiece diameter 50–80mm, the induction heater frequency should at the range of 2–5KHZ
Workpiece diameter above 80mm, the induction heater frequency should within 2KHZ
Induction Melting
According to the metal material and melting capacity, the induction melting machine frequency should choose 3–30KHZ
Induction Brazing
According to the brazing material, welding depth, workpiece thickness, the induction brazing frequency range should be 15–300KHZ.
